"Amongst the plethora of red blends we tasted throughout this year’s tastings, only one truly stood out from the others. The Rousseau Son of a Butcher is a Tannat based Bordeaux blend which sets it apart from its Napa counterparts. Tannat is a criminally overlooked varietal due to its grittiness in the Old World, however its irresistibility is perfectly highlighted in this wine. Bouquets of blackberry, white pepper, and spicy oak fill the nose with notes of roasted coffee beans and raspberries consistent on the palate.
