Long considered the first luxury producer in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, Domaine Serene was founded in 1989 before there was any sort of national market for high quality, terroir-driven wines from the region. The first vintage in 1990 was given high praise by Robert Parker and the legend of Domaine Serene has been growing ever since. Awards and accolades for the wines of the estate have been piling up ever since and in 2016 their 2012 vintage Winery Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir was named the Top Pinot Noir in the World by Decanter magazine. Domaine Serene produces an extensive array of vineyard designate wines of many kinds but the beating heart of the domaine is and will always be Pinot Noir.
The Yamhill Carlton cuvee offers a fetching floral nose, intense pure fruit flavors of strawberry, dark cherry and tart cranberry burst on the palate. A veil of complex notes of mulled spices, forest floor and chaparral balance the fruit-driven essence of the wine. The mouthfeel is dense with pure, rich texture and fresh minerality, integrating the structured tannins, leading to a smooth lingering finish.
