Fun New Arrivals Under $20

Hello to all who Imbibe!

October is approaching and the year-end couldn’t come soon enough. This is also the time we start tasting through buckets of wine and slowly start to narrow down our favorites for our 2021 Top 100 list. The team started tasting last week and already we’ve come across some great contenders that couldn’t wait to have a home in our store.

2019 Field Recordings ‘Wonderwall’ Pinot Noir, Edna Valley: $19.91
Adorning a old photo of Babe Ruth doing his thing, this wine knocks it out of the park with notes of black cherries, figs and cola, a touch of almond bark, smoke and black tea. Just when you think you’ve tasted it all, hints of white pepper, clove and cinnamon burst forward in the finish, sending you straight to home plate.

2017 Groundwork Mourvedre, Santa Barbara Highlands: $19.91
This wine was hands down one of my favorites out of a day of tasting. A product of Sans Liege out of Paso Robles, winemaker Curt Schalchlin focuses on the heritage of the Rhone Valley and produces exquisite wines at such low price points, it will feel like highway robbery once you take your first sip. This wine offers up ripe red fruit without the heaviness, with a palate filled with dark cherry, leather, white pepper, hibiscus tea, and slight tobacco. Do not sleep on this wine.
