Mojave Wines

Hello to all who Imbibe!

My dear friend and owner of Mojave Wines, Rebecca George dropped me a note saying she was heading my way with her newest releases of her Mojave Pinot Noir. I have written up her wines in past years and some of you already know how special they are. Lucky for you, Rebecca has two new releases this year.

First up is her 2018 Hicks Vineyard Pinot Noir from Santa Cruz Mountains. This vineyard was planted back in 2001 and has hit full stride. This wine is expressive and exotic with aromas and flavors of raspberry, mint leaf and cara cara orange. A generous wine that will have you coming back for more. Only 75 cases for the world at $69 per bottle. Did I mention it has 13.7% abv? That is almost unheard of in this day and age.

Her other bottling is the 2018 Monument Tree Vineyard Pinot Noir from Anderson Valley. Imbibe has offered this wine in past vintages. Intense perfumes of dried red cherry, cinnamon spice and roasted hazelnut. The palate is rich and appealing with blackberry, anise and vanilla bean notes wings of earthy undertones. Only 50 cases for the world at $69 a bottle.

Let me tell you a little about Rebecca. She grew up outside of Ridgecrest, hint the name Mojave Wines. I have known her for years as the winemaker at Kelly Fleming Wines in Napa, one of my favorite Cabernet producers in all the Valley. Her resume includes stints at Marcassin, Meo- Camuzet in Burgundy, Schramsberg, and Williams Selyem. Besides making beautiful wines, she is beautiful inside and out.
