Ilaria, Italian for happy and cheerful, is the brainchild of Anna Monticelli, winemaker and owner of Ilaria Wines. Her resume is impressive: UC Davis, the Sorbonne, cellar work at Chateau Cheval-Blanc, assistant winemaker at Seavey Vineyard, assistant winemaker at Bryant Family and now, winemaker at Pina Family and Ilaria.

A Cabernet defined by intense and powerful fruit flavors. The wine is full-bodied and rich with black fruit tones and spice notes. The first thing to notice is the sweet dark currant and blackberry accented with cocoa. Then there is that hint of toasty oak and elegant fine-grained tannins that linger on the finish. Drink it now, but don’t be afraid to set it aside to celebrate its 10th birthday. 144 cases produced.
