2008 Dr. Loosen Riesling “Dr. L” $14.99

Crisp and cool, I find a German Riesling the easiest wine to bring to the dinner table, so versatile! Brothers Ernst and Thomas Loosen are probably the most recognizable German producers here in the US. Being so far north, German vineyards have to be situated on insanely steep slopes of southern exposure to ripen the grapes. The Loosen brothers happen to hold some of the most enviable sites. Old, un-grafted vines provide the fruit for this people pleasing, off-dry thirst quencher. Notes of kaffir lime leaf, stone fruit, honeysuckle, and slatey, wet stones will please as an aperitif or alongside a cheese course. ~Richard
